In 2019, the government segment and procurement of expensive drugs became the growth driver of the pharmaceutical market for the first time due to the implementation of the facility mainly related to the organization of cancer care within the framework of the National Healthcare Project. Through this process, the slowdown in growth rates of the Russian pharmaceutical market unexpectedly discontinued in many respects.

The availability of pharmaceutical substances is key to successful operation of drug manufacturers. Today there are not many companies in the territory of Russia that are intimately involved in the manufacture of pharmaceutical raw materials. And this is one of the major setbacks in the issue of drug safety. That is why special attention was paid to the manufacture of substances in developing the Pharma-2030 strategy for pharmaceutical industry. The main course is set for increase of the domestic production of raw materials to provide domestic industry with sufficient amount of such materials. Moreover, production output should be increased to the volumes that will make it possible to establish active export of substances to the world market.

В конце 2019 г. премьер-министром РФ Дмитрием Медведевым было подписано распоряжение о включении в Перечень жизненно необходимых и важнейших лекарственных препаратов (ЖНВЛП) дополнительно 23 МНН, а также сняты ограничения на выписывание одного препарата по решению врачебной комиссии (исключается как не применяемый на территории Российской Федерации). Таким образом, с 1 января 2020 г. этот список включает уже 758 позиций, 68% из которых производятся на территории РФ по полному циклу, еще 12% упаковываются. Остальные - импортные лекарственные препараты. Отметим, что треть вошедших в обновленный список лекарств используется для лечения различных видов рака.

Over the past few decades, gastric and duodenal ulcer disease (UD) has remained one of the common reasons for outpatient care [1]. Whereas, the improvement of approaches to the treatment of this pathology and development of effective therapy methods open up new possibilities for patients. This article depicts the main trends in the pharmacy antiulcer drugs market.

Many studies conducted in different countries show that there has been a steady increase in the percentage of persons with sleep disorders. There are a number of different types of sleep disorders, of which insomnia is the most common [1]. From this perspective, the choice of optimal approaches to the management of insomnia seems to be a particularly relevant objective for public health.

Anxiety, sense of distress, irritability is some of the most common complaints among patients [1]. Along with psychological aid, the prescription of pharmacological therapy is recommended to overcome stress reactions in daily life [2]. Valocordin remains one of the most popular drugs in patients, which helps handle stress and eliminate its vegetative manifestations.

In Russia, the main part of outpatient care is provided to the patients diagnosed with disorders affecting the spine and joints, which manifest themselves as pain [1]. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) play a major role in pain syndrome management. Meloxicam, which is well known to Russians under Amelotex® brand, stands out from the rest of NSAIDs.

Background and research methodology: High investment activity in the Russian pharmaceutical industry creates the need to understand the characteristics of organizing and functioning of various pharmaceutical business models. Four business models of the main participants of investment processes were identified: biotechnology companies, wide profile generic companies, specialized pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). Each of the business models was described in details on the basis of at least three companies.Objective: Determination of specific features of the commercial activities of the Russian pharmaceutical manufacturers for identifying risks associated with investment activity.Research results: A detailed description of the commercial activities of domestic pharmaceutical companies was obtained in the framework of different business models. A comparative characteristic of business models was carried out by the following indicators: resource base, cost structure, suppliers structure, main customers and sales structure. All business models are characterized by predominance in the cost structure of raw and other materials and dependence on their imports in foreign currency. The structure of materials supplying for biotechnological and generic companies is diversified, while for specialized companies it is concentrated. There is a tendency for generic companies to purchase API manufacturers.Conclusion: Analysis of companies’ activity within the framework of the selected business models allows to determine their specific features, identify potential risks of investment programs, and develop measures for managing risks associated with investment projects.

The analysis of drug product release by pharmaceutical manufacturers has been performed using data from the state statistical reporting of the industry companies. According to Rosstat, the quantum index by type of economic activity with code 21: manufacture of drug products and materials used for medical purposes in 2019 was at the level of 119.6% compared to the previous year.
