Abstract
The article considers dentophobia as a significant biopsychosocial phenomenon that affects the quality of life and the structure of dental care. It is shown that the fear of dental intervention is formed under the influence of personal negative experiences, social learning, cultural beliefs and informational influences, which leads to a steady avoidance of preventive visits and late treatment. An analysis of these studies demonstrates that severe dental anxiety is associated with a deterioration in dental status, a decrease in psychological well-being, and an increased need for complex invasive interventions. The conclusion is drawn about the need for a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach, including improving communication, improving medical literacy and developing patient-oriented care strategies.
