It is shown that the fear of dental intervention is formed under the influence of personal negative experiences, social learning, cultural beliefs and informational influences, which leads to a steady avoidance of preventive visits and late treatment. An analysis of these studies demonstrates that severe dental anxiety is associated with a deterioration in dental status, a decrease in psychological well-being, and an increased need for complex invasive interventions. The conclusion is drawn about the need for a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach, including improving communication, improving medical literacy and developing patient-oriented care strategies.
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>dentophobia</kwd><kwd>dental anxiety</kwd><kwd>quality of life</kwd><kwd>reversibility</kwd><kwd>avoidant behavior</kwd><kwd>patient-oriented medicine</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>дентофобия</kwd><kwd>стоматологическая тревожность</kwd><kwd>качество жизни</kwd><kwd>обращаемость</kwd><kwd>избегающее поведение</kwd><kwd>пациент-ориентированная медицина</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Silveira E.
