Abstract

The article discusses the state of the pharmaceutical industry during the Great Patriotic War in 1941—1942. The shortcomings of pre-war planning for the deployment of most enterprises of the industry in the western territories of the USSR, which led to losses in the provision of medicines and dressings for the army and the civilian population of the country at the beginning of the war, were revealed. The difficulties with the relocation of production from the front-line regions to the rear, the huge work to restore the efficiency of evacuated plants and factories, and the construction of new enterprises are shown. It has been established that already in the first period of the Great Patriotic War, it was possible to achieve the restoration of the Soviet pharmaceutical industry.
