The shortcomings of pre-war planning for the deployment of most enterprises of the industry in the western territories of the USSR, which led to losses in the provision of medicines and dressings for the army and the civilian population of the country at the beginning of the war, were revealed. The difficulties with the relocation of production from the front-line regions to the rear, the huge work to restore the efficiency of evacuated plants and factories, and the construction of new enterprises are shown.
