Abstract
The article considers traits of biography of Charles Winslow (1877—1957), american bacteriologist and specilist in public health and health care, the author of concept of public health that is widespread in world health care nationally and internationally. The encyclopedic breadth of subject-matters of research works of Ch. Winslow is demonstrated. It is establisshed that Ch. Winslow by his definition introduced into content of public health multidisciplinarity, priority of prevention and principle of collective actions for benefit of health od society.
