K. Anrep, a Russian physiologist, pharmacologist, forensic physician, and state and political figure. Anrep was the first in the world to identify and experimentally substantiate the local anesthetic properties of cocaine. His scholarly legacy encompasses original scientific research, pedagogical contributions, and extensive public service.
