He took part in several expeditions of the Russian Geographical Society and the Academy of Sciences to explore the Russian North, as well as in the Russian-Swedish hydrographic expedition to Spitsbergen. He was the author of ethnographic and medico-geographical studies of the nature and natural resources of the North, research on medical support for navigation in the northern seas, on the organization of medical evacuation and sanitary-preventive services for the navy during wartime, and on the prevention of avitaminosis and occupational diseases among sailors.A.
