The article examines the structural features of the term «prevention» provided for in various areas of legislation, and also studies the specifics of preventive measures provided for by the provisions on state control (supervision) in the field of circulation of medicines, as well as the quality and safety of medical activities. Definitions for various types of preventive measures have been developed and proposed, aspects have been identified in relation to which legislative improvement is potentially possible.
