Официальные данные медицинской статистики свидетельствуют о высокой медико-социальной значимости совершенствования системы оказания медицинской помощи населению по профилю «эндокринология». В связи с этим необходимо провести анализ существующей системы оказания медицинской помощи пациентам с эндокринными заболеваниями, изучить международный и национальный опыт и результаты научных исследований, направленных на оптимизацию организации медицинского обслуживания населения по эндокринологическому профилю. Исследование научной литературы позволило сделать вывод о том, что существующая система медицинской помощи пациентам с эндокринными заболеваниями, а также организационная работа по её улучшению на местах не могут полностью удовлетворить растущие потребности населения России.
