Three periods of the institutes activity can be distinguished: ecological, transitional and modern. The main areas of research in the first period were the analysis of the Moscow environment and determination of the level of environmentally related morbidity, development of new diagnostic tools (polymerase chain reaction and troponin test system), vector-directed therapy of malignant neoplasms, and the use of natural statins to inhibit oncogenesis. At the beginning of the radical reconstruction of medicine initiated by the Mayor of Moscow S. S. Sobyanin, the institute was reoriented to solving analytical problems of healthcare organization. In the modern period, the institutes employees are engaged in research of the best public health practices. The institute has implemented a comprehensive support system for Moscow scientists — search for ideas, access to knowledge bases, etc. The statistics department forms a comprehensive picture of the health status and medical care of the population of Moscow. Organizational and methodological departments have become actual «headquarters» for the main freelance specialists of the Health Department of Moscow. The Center for Sociological Research carries out systematic work on assessing the feedback of specialists and the public to the events held by the department. Congress and exhibition activities of medical organizations are supported, promoted and analyzed by the relevant department of the institute. Active work is carried out with the population to promote a healthy lifestyle, knowledge of first aid, etc. The Institute has come a long way and has become a major research, scientific and practical center of Moscow healthcare.
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Moscow healthcare</kwd><kwd>vector oncotherapy</kwd><kwd>polymerase chain reaction</kwd><kwd>Research Institute of Healthcare Organization and Medical Management</kwd><kwd>Moscow Research Institute of Medical Ecology</kwd><kwd>medical statistics</kwd><kwd>medical sociology</kwd><kwd>organizational and methodological departments</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>здравоохранение Москвы</kwd><kwd>Научно-исследовательский институт организации здравоохранения и медицинского менеджмента</kwd><kwd>Московский научно-исследовательский институт медицинской экологии</kwd><kwd>медицинская статистика</kwd><kwd>медицинская социология</kwd><kwd>организационно-методические отделы</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Glukhov A.
