Отмечается, что медицинский туризм становится одним из направлений по продвижению стран на мировой арене и дополнительным источником финансирования здравоохранения. Указывается, что у России имеются как сильные, так и слабые стороны, способные оказать влияние на вектор развития медицинского туризма. Подчёркивается, что сложившиеся геополитические условия негативно отразились на перспективах развития въездного и выездного медицинского туризма, однако внутренний медицинский туризм, возможно, ожидает период оживления, учитывая разнообразие санаторно-курортных учреждений в России и их доступность для населения.
