The authors present the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of regional pharmaceutical markets, accessibility index of various socially important types of pharmaceutical asistance to the population (extemporaneous manufacture of dosage forms, dispensing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances listed in Schedule II and III of Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 681 of June 30, 1998, as well as participation in the pharmaceutical benefit schemes for population privileged groups at the federal and regional levels). It was established that the pharmaceutical market in most of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation is concentrated.
